Registration for Project Fresh Start 2013 is now open! Did you know that more than 3,000 children attending Portage County schools in grades K-12 qualify to receive free or reduced priced meals through their schools? That’s roughly 1/3 of all students enrolled in Portage County schools.

Connecting residents to local volunteer opportunities is an essential part of United Way of Portage County’s mission and doing so just got easier with its revamped Volunteers Center website, volunteersrock.org.

I volunteer because the benefits of volunteering are enormous to me, my family and my community. I have learned new skills, built my resume, advanced in my career, boosted my social skills, met new forever friends and gained a sense of connection to my community.
