Who We Are
In Portage County, we are proud to support the Relay for Life of UW-Stevens Point and the Relay for Life of Portage County (in Amherst).
At Relay For Life events, communities come together to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has already taken too much. The funds you raise truly make a difference in the fight against cancer – just ask one of the nearly 14 million cancer survivors who will celebrate another birthday this year!
Relay is a family friendly fund raising event where participants walk or run around a track or path at a local high school, park, or fairground. Every Relay event has an opening ceremony, a survivor lap, a luminaria ceremony, and a fight back ceremony. It is a great chance to honor those in your life who have been affected by cancer and to pledge to fight back against this disease!
What We Do
The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization. The American Cancer Society's mission dedicated to saving lives and creating more birthdays by helping people stay well by preventing cancer or detecting it early, helping people get well by being there for them during and after a cancer diagnosis, by finding cures through investments in lifesaving research, and by fighting back by working with lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight.
