The North Central Area Office of SOWI is responsible for providing competition opportunities to athletes from the Area's 13 counties (Area Competition) and from other Areas around the state (District/Regional Competition) when appropriate. Volunteers are needed in a variety of positions, ranging from Games Management Team members to officials and other day-of (general) event volunteers.
What We Do
The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for persons eight years of age and older with cognitive disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, and other Special Olympics athletes and community.
