Healthy Smiles for Portage County

Healthy Smiles is a school-based dental sealant and fluoride varnish program that visits all Portage County schools. Portable dental equipment is brought to the school. Dental screenings are preformed on all 2nd graders in Portage County to collect valuable data regarding the needs of the population. Dental sealants are placed on all children whose parents have indicated interest in receiving dental sealants and fluoride varnish applications.

The mission of Healthy Smiles for Portage County is: * To improve the public's awareness of dental sealants and encourage sealant placement on all appropriate molars, with emphasis on six year molars. * To promote and provide preventive oral health services including sealants, fluoride and education in order to prevent decay and to promote oral health as part of one's total health.
