Who We Are
OUR MISSION:
HART is dedicated to empowering individuals with special needs through equine-assisted activities.
HART Equine Therapy Center, Inc. was founded in December 2013 as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization to provide equine-assisted activities for individuals of all ages and economic status that are overcoming a challenge, have special needs, or at risk. Students will engage with horses in activities such as therapeutic horseback riding lessons, grooming, and groundwork. These activities provide socialization for all and offers opportunities for volunteers.
What We Do
Therapeutic Riding provides health benefits, social, educational and recreational opportunities to individuals with special needs. Students (ages 4 - adult) with a wide range of disabilities such as down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and spinal cord injuries, as well as emotional and mental health issues benefit from the special bond between horses and humans.
Classes are taught by PATH Intl. certified instructors in conjunction with trained volunteers.
Lesson plan goals are centered around the student and horse interaction while working to improve balance, muscle strength, communication skills and self-esteem.
The horse and rider experience can enhance the student's daily life with more confidence and independence, improved communication skills including concentration and memory, the ability to solve problems therefore giving them a feeling of accomplishment for the goals they have achieved.
