READY TO RESPOND:
Volunteer Reception Center Training & Disaster Reserves List
When disaster strikes volunteers give help and hope. They help rebuild neighborhoods and lives. But just how are all those volunteers organized? Volunteers that arrive to help must be screened and oriented at a Volunteer Reception Center.
What is a Volunteer Reception Center? When a natural or man-made disaster occurs in a community, many volunteers will come into the disaster area to assist with recovery and support families. Learn how those who come to help need to be processed and participate in a mock disaster exercise to practice the roles of registering, interviewing, directing traffic, entering data, answering phones, training, etc. Help Portage County be prepared if a large scale disaster strikes.
