Volunteer: Be a Friend - Make a Difference Just By Being Yourself

Being a Friend is simple - and yet it is also life changing!

Did you know that About 1 in 4 adults with disabilities report that they do not get the social and emotional support they need? (Statistic via CDC)

YOU can make a difference just by being yourself! One Good Friend carefully matches adults with disabilities seeking a Friend to community members based on shared interests so that they are sure to have a fun and fulfilling time together!

Friends are encouraged to get together twice a month to hang out and do life together - simple things like going for walks, watching movies, crafting, playing sports, baking, etc.! Everyone in One Good Friend is invited to monthly inclusive group events that build our community and sense of belonging - events have included karaoke, bowling, movie-going, game nights, painting, pizza parties, nature walks, mini-golfing, and so much more!

By sharing only 2-4 hours a month with your Friend, you will make a difference! Friends are typically matched in 1-1 scenarios but have had families join together, and as pairs of volunteers - this is a good fit for anyone willing to be a Friend!

Hear from a recent volunteer: “A truer friend you’ll never find! Giving time to someone doesn’t cost anything. It will bring joy to you as well as filling another persons life with joy.” -K.T., volunteer Friend
