Description

The Great Lakes Great Apple Crunch calls attention to healthy food and celebrates national movement toward a greener diet. The YMCA is joining with organizations and individuals across the Great Lakes Region states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio, in celebrating National Farm to School Month by crunching into locally grown apples. This collective crunch encourages healthy eating and supports farm to school and other local food purchasing initiatives throughout the region. The YMCA will be bursting with activity on Friday October 12th, 2018 with over 100 children participating in the Great Apple Crunch. From 10am until noon, the Y’s child care and pre-school students will be celebrating with apple-themed games, art, a chef demonstration and a lesson in making apple cider. The event will begin with each participant biting into a delicious local apple.

We are looking for approximately 20 volunteers to help with set-up, clean-up, and kids' activity stations.
