
What: Learn for Life, a United Way of Portage County internal program, provides 2nd and 3rd grade learners who are below grade level reading proficiency with volunteer tutors. Tutors work with teachers and students to support reading achievement in the early grades.
When: Learn for Life will run throughout the 2026-2027 school year, starting the week of November 1st and ending the week of May 2nd.
Where: Learn for Life supports all public and private schools in Portage County.
Commitment: Substitute tutors are needed either 30 or 60 minutes as needed throughout the school year.
Qualifications: No experience necessary. All substitute tutors will need to complete a registration form, background check, and attend a 1-hour orientation before tutoring students. New tutors will need to interview with the Learn for Life Program Coordinator.
