Being a hospice volunteer is an intensely rewarding experience.  Volunteers are given the choice as to what types of things you want to do and how much time you want to contribute (usually 1-2 hours per week).  Interim HealthCare believes that volunteers are often the heart of the origination because they give the gift of time to those in need. Volunteers provide support to patients who are near the end of life as well as their family, and caregivers.  Help is provided wherever the patient considers home, which could be their own house, apartment, an assisted living, or skilled nursing facility.  The goal is to help maximize quality of life when quantity of life is limited. There are two types of volunteers, Patient Volunteers and Office Volunteers. 

Patient Volunteers perform some of the following: 

Office Volunteers may also choose to help in the office with mailing, computer work, organizing supplies, and administrative duties.  Some volunteers have special training to help provide grief support.

Volunteers are required to complete an interview and about 9 hours of training.  They also receive ongoing support and training from the hospice care team.  Hospice education covers philosophy of hospice care; services offered by hospice; physical, emotional, social, and spiritual issues encountered at the end of life; effective communication when speaking with patients and family members; comfort care; the dying process; and basic information about grief and loss.

Sometimes hospice can be scary for people, and they want to help but aren't sure how if they don't feel comfortable visiting patients. Becoming an office support volunteer is a perfect avenue. With your help, patients will continue to receive quick, accurate, and reliable service. Office staff are often the "unsung heroes" but not around here! Without help keeping our files in good order, maintaining good communication with doctors and facilities, it would be impossible to provide the high level of patient-centered, family-focused care that we do. We would love to have you join our team and experience the satisfaction of knowing that the ill and vulnerable are having a better day because of you. You have a variety of office duties to choose from: filing; monthly bereavement mailings; copying; organizing resources; sending, receiving and distributing faxes; and special projects.

This could also be the perfect volunteer opportunity for a student wanting a career in an office setting. 

A phone pal is like a pen pal, but instead of writing letters, it is talking over the phone! A phone pal is someone who is not able to go into a facility or a patient's home but calls them and talks to them over the phone. This person would call the patient and talk with them and be a friendly listening ear to a patient on hospice. While it may not be in person, it still gives an outlet to the patient of a person to talk to, someone to listen, and build comradery with to let them know they are not alone. A friendly caller may also make tuck in calls. Tuck in calls is where a person calls a patient, or facility where a patient lives, to ask if they need any additional supplies before we head into the weekend. Then take note of which person needs what supplies and let the nurse or aide know to bring these supplies at their next visit. 

A Veteran volunteer is a person who has served or is currently serving in the military, visiting a Veteran on Hospice. Vet to Vet builds comradery that nonmilitary members can't relate to. Some things our Veteran Volunteers have done in the past are presenting veterans with a certificate and pin of gratitude for their service during a recognition ceremony when they come onto hospice care. They assist in planning and attending special activities and events for veterans. Veteran Volunteers also routinely visit Veteran Hospice patients and build relationships with them. As a Veteran, you will have first priority when we have a veteran looking for a companion volunteer. Great for veterans, ROTC, active duty, military family members etc.

Qualifications: -Positive attitude, organized, and possess a desire to honor our nation's veterans, and a desire to work in a hospice setting with the elderly, and a wide range of individuals.

Moving Day is coming! We have been planning to move archives from our Engford House in Heritage Park to our historic Firehouse in Stevens Point for some time, but due to emerging circumstances (most recently rats!), we need to do it sooner than originally anticipated. Our intrepid Museum Curator will be boxing everything up and staging on the main floor of the building, but we need a crew of movers to load boxes into vehicles, transport from Heritage Park in Plover to the Firehouse in Stevens Point, unload, and repeat. We are hopeful that if we can get enough volunteers willing to help, we can move everything in two work days. This is an important, time-sensitive need for assistance.

This is a flexible assignment that depends on the rider’s needs and the volunteer’s availability.      

Drivers transport seniors, people with disabilities and clients of Health and Human Services to a variety of appointments and activities. These may include medical appointments, nutrition programs, Adult Day Center, grocery shopping, and essential personal business appointments. Drivers may accept or refuse requests based upon their schedules or personal preferences.

Position Description/Responsibilities:  The Volunteer Driver Program provides transportation services to eligible residents of Portage County throughout Wisconsin. Volunteers use their own vehicles to take people to necessary appointments. Due to the nature of this assignment, the volunteer must be fit to drive safely and assist the passenger accordingly.

Volunteers will:

·        Communicate with Central Transportation to schedule rides and record miles and hours driven.

·        Provide safe and reliable transportation. 

·        Collect and submit rider donations.  

·        Allow those unable to drive, the ability to continue living independently.  

Required Qualifications/Skills:  Must maintain a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and safe driving record.  Auto insurance policy must have the minimum liability coverage and uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage required by the State of Wisconsin.  Vehicles must be kept in safe operating condition.

Caring, patient, safety-minded individual with good communication skills, ability to listen non-judgmentally, ability to maintain confidentiality.

Autumn is coming! In anticipation of the Village of Plover's Fall Curbside Brush Pickup the week beginning on October 20th, we are looking for volunteers to help us clean up our yard at Heritage Park. We will be pulling, pruning and gathering brush and spent vegetation throughout our sizeable property - stacking everything along Willow Drive for collection. Many hands make light work, so we are hoping we can get a good-sized crew gathered to knock this out in as little time as possible. Bring friends, family, neighbors, and we can have a fun day of  community while getting some good old-fashioned exercise, sun (hopefully!) and fresh air!

Autumn is in the air, and summer activities have come to an end. It is time to plan for shutting down our historic buildings at Heritage Park for the season. We are searching for volunteers to assist with fall cleaning and shutdown activities. Our Museum Curator will provide guidance and direction for our volunteers, to ensure all is done safely and properly. We have set aside the first three Mondays in October to give all of our buildings a thorough clean and install protective materials such as furniture and window coverings. This is an important annual activity for preserving our historic buildings and the artifacts within.

PCHS has a collection of photo negatives from the Stevens Point Journal. These images must be scanned before vinegar syndrome takes over and the photos are degraded.

This volunteer is doing research on a topic they are interested in and turning their research into blog post-style writing to be featured on the PCHS website. Volunteer topics must be approved by the supervisor and regular check-ins will occur to ensure research and writing success. A minimum of one blog post a month should be created.

PCHS has a collection of 70 scrapbooks that showcase the various musical acts that visited our Stevens Point Holiday Inn. This venue was affectionately known as the Holidome. The volunteer will be trained on how to digitize scrapbook pages. Each scrapbook will be uploaded as its own archival file in our CatalogIt database, with all related metadata taken from the scrapbook and added to the database to provide context. The original scrapbooks will go to storage and the digital files will be made publicly available once the project is completed.

Hello!  We're looking for a volunteer to take blood pressure readings for participants at the Rosholt Senior Dining Site at the Legion Hall 290 Grand Ave once per month, on the 2nd or 4th Thursday of the month and the Junction City Dining Site at Park Lodge 224 Park Ave on the 1st or 3rd Thursday of the month.  Readings typically take place from 11:15am-12:15pm.  Equipment may be provided, or you may use your own.  If you are qualified and interested please get in touch, our senior participants really appreciate this service!

Volunteers deliver meals for homebound seniors throughout Portage County as part of the ADRC's Rural Home Delivered Meal Program.  If you want to really make a difference in someone's life this is for you! A mileage stipend is available.  Number of Volunteers Needed:   15-20

Commitment is approximately 1 ½ - 2 hours between 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Routes are primarily in the villages and rural areas of Portage County, but in most cases start and end at the Lincoln Center in Stevens Point.

Scheduling can be flexible and we'd be happy to talk to you about what works for your schedule.  

You must be 55 years of age or older to volunteer as a part of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program but our nutrition program is happy to accept volunteers of any age so long as they can drive and pass a background check.

-Almond on Thursday.  The route it is approximately 80 miles.  The route leaves Lincoln Center at 10:35 and returning approx.. 12:30 to 1:00 PM

The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Portage County is piloting a new evidence-based program, called Bingocize®, and need an exercise leader/Bingo-caller to help make it happen!  The leader will be expected to travel throughout Portage County for pop-up workshops in addition to the events at Lincoln Center.

Bingocize® is a fun, 10-week program that combines exercise and health education with the familiar game of Bingo. The class meets twice a week for 45 - 60 minutes to get some activity in, socialize, learn, and win prizes.

Leader training is available online and covered by the ADRC of Portage County.

If you enjoy engaging with older adults, this opportunity could be perfect for you!  We are looking for volunteer advocates to improve lives of residents living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities in Stevens Point and the surrounding communities! These advocates make weekly unannounced visits to a designated nursing home or assisted living facility, observe general conditions, meet with residents to educate them about their rights and empower residents to resolve concerns on their own. Our volunteers are friendly visitors on a mission of advocacy!  Training and materials are provided and ongoing support is always available. This opportunity is flexible and visits are 1-2 hours in duration and can be made any day of the week between 8am-8pm. Please consider becoming a Volunteer Advocate with the State of Wisconsin Board on Aging and Long Term Care!

Respite visit volunteers provide regularly scheduled visits with the patient and/or the patient's family. Offer the gift of time to family members of patients in hospice who face the ever-present challenge of care giving. Hospice respite volunteers offer short-term (1-4 hours) respite care to patients, allowing caregivers to take a break, run errands, nap, etc.

Qualifications: Patience, compassion, flexibility, dependability, and good active listening skills are needed. Volunteers need to be able to establish and maintain boundaries. The volunteer must be able to put the patient's interests first. Being well grounded and possessing good common sense are important.

Time Commitment: Generally, visits are made 1-2 times a month and are 1-4 hours in length. We ask that volunteers commit at least two hours a month.

Location: Patient visits take place in the home of the patient whether it is a private residence, assisted living facility, or nursing home.

Benefits: The benefit of helping others who are not able to repay you is priceless. Complete training is given to volunteers to address all aspects of patient care. The Volunteer Coordinator will attend the first visit with each volunteer and will be available for any questions or concerns. Continuing education in end-of-life issues is available to all volunteers.

Teach the StrongBodies exercise program to older adults at the Plover Municipal Center. StrongBodies is an evidence-based exercise program that helps participants increase their strength, flexibility, balance, endurance, bone density, and connection with others. 

To become a leader, individuals must pass a caregiver background check and complete the StrongBodies base training. The Aging & Disability Resource Center of Portage County covers all training fees and expenses. Once trained, new leaders can be paired with more experienced leaders until they're comfortable leading on their own. Co-leaders are also welcome, so if you have an interested friend or family member, invite them to become a leader too! 

Stay Strong and Connected: Become an Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program Leader

Teach the AFEX program to older adults at Lincoln Center. The evidence-based program helps older adults with arthritis, rheumatic disease, and musculoskeletal conditions of all activity levels to improve their mobility, coordination, muscular strength, functional ability, self-confidence, and self-care. The program is proven to reduce fatigue, pain, and stiffness in its participants. To become certified in this program, candidates must pass a caregiver background check, obtain and maintain a certificate in CPR, and complete an online training course and exam. Program leader certificates are valid for two years. The Aging & Disability Resource Center of Portage County covers all leader training requirements. 

Mind Over Matter: Healthy Bowels, Healthy Bladder (MOM) workshop facilitator.

MOM is a researched and proven community-based program designed to give women the tools they need to take control of bladder and bowel leakage. The program incorporates social interaction, tasteful humor, and fiber-filled snacks in a small and comfortable group setting to help women get back to the things that matter most to them.

The next facilitator training session is on August 27 and 28 from 9:00 AM- 4:00 PM CST and will be offered virtually. Facilitator training is covered by the ADRC. Applicants must be female and comfortable discussing bowel and bladder function. Position summary: Available to assistthe surgery and GI Department waiting room. The volunteer will monitor the waiting area and take phone calls from the surgery and GI department and communicate with the family/friend waiting for someone to finish a procedure.  

Training:Volunteer will train with the Volunteer Coordinator to learn the processes and tools needed for the assignment. Training is usually completed after 1-2 trainings.

Some walking. Be able to bend and put away supplies that are delivered to the area. Nutritional items are delivered for the hospitality area.

The Central Wisconsin Children's Museum is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Exhibit Technician to assist in the maintenance, installation, and upkeep of our interactive exhibits. As an Exhibit Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our exhibits are engaging, safe, and enjoyable for children and families. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in exhibit design, maintenance, and museum operations.

We are looking for a detail oriented person to help keep our museum clean and sparkly!  Cleaning duties include washing windows, cleaning floors, basic restroom maintenance, scrubbing tables from little hands making messes, and vacuuming/mopping on certain days.

Once a week preferred, more is extraordinary! Winter months comes extra cleaning from wet boots and melting snow. 

We are seeking enthusiastic and knowledgeable individuals to serve as volunteers & docents in our greenhouse. In this role, you will assist with the day-to-day operations while engaging with visitors to educate them on vegetable production, sustainable agricultural practices and crop growing cycles. As a volunteer docent, you’ll act as an ambassador for our greenhouse, sharing the importance of production agriculture, innovations within the agricultural community and enhancing the visitor experience.  

This position is primarily focused on our open exhibit hours between 9am and 3pm. We are looking to have up to 2 people on each shift. Scheduling will be in 2-4 hour blocks, at your convenience, and based on when we need assistance.

Moments Hospice is looking for volunteers to join our team. Our patients have a terminal illness diagnosis and are in their final stages of life. As a Hospice Volunteer you will be visiting patients in their home or in nursing facilities.

We need volunteers who will help us reach our number one goal of making sure each patient gets the best care and support they need to make every moment of life count. You will be providing a break for family caregivers as well.  Please note that all patient volunteers must be Covid vaccinated.

The Stevens Point Auxiliary Police Unit is a volunteer unit who works directly with the Police Department in various aspects. Auxiliary Police help with community functions including providing traffic control for community events like Runs/Walks, they assist with community parades, Riverfront Rendezvous, and most community sporting events.

Volunteer to set up houses for new refugee families before they arrive. This may include cleaning, stocking, and furniture moving. Sometimes we receive very short notice from the refugee resettlement agency, so these volunteers must activate quickly. Help make our community welcoming.

Help plan and set up community events that increase understanding and celebrate refugees, including World Refugee Day in June. This may include tabling to recruit volunteers, community trainings on diversity and inclusion, or social activities such as sporting activities, picnics, or holiday celebrations. Help make our community welcoming.

Help obtaining and organizing large donations (such as furniture and mattresses) in need for new refugee and immigrant families in Portage County. This may include organizing the storage area at CAP Services and/or moving big items to and from the donation sites and/or family homes. If you have a trailer that you can use, please let us know. Many kids rely on our after-school programs for support which includes a nutritious meal. By volunteering to prep and serve meals at BGC, you are helping to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive, no matter their circumstances.   Your time and kindness can be a bright spot in their day!

Volunteers are needed from 2:00 pm - 5:30 pm Mon - Fri at both our Plover and Stevens Point locations, but we are flexible and can work with your availability! The Charles F. Fernandez Center for Alternative Learning is looking for Wood Working Shop Mentors.  

Job Parameters: 1 to 2 days per week.  1 to 2 hour sessions, approximately 9am-10am and/or 1pm-2pm.

Job Description/Responsibilities: Work one-on-one with students(age 13-18) on a variety of woodworking projects with the goal of encouraging students to develop self-esteem, confidence, pride, and patience.

Required Qualifications/Skills: Some knowledge of woodworking and power tools; attention to safety issues and housekeeping.  Ability to work with at-risk students; be non-judgmental, patient, open minded, flexible, and compassionate.  Ability to adjust to interruptions, occasional disrespect, and challenging behaviors.  Ability to maintain confidentiality, understanding that all information learned about a student must be kept confidential.

If you are handy but lack experience doing wood-working specifically our volunteers are happy to train you.

After completing open-book IRS Tax Certification, you will be responsible to complete basic tax returns for low to moderate income clients. During the tax season, we run our tax assistance on Saturdays from 9:00 - 1:00 and Tuesdays from 3:00 - 8:00 at MSTC in Stevens Point. You may volunteer for as many shifts as you wish, but we ask you agree to one shift a week through the tax season. 

Become a Mentor!

In our School-Based Mentoring Program, a mentor will give a child the invaluable gift of being a caring and consistent friend to them.

Our School-Based or Site-Based Mentoring Program volunteer will meet with their Little for about 1 hour on a specific day, in a supervised setting, on a weekly basis.  Volunteers are matched during lunch periods or after school hours.  (Hours vary at different sites.)  Volunteering takes place in Stevens Point, WI.  Volunteer activity ideas are playing board games, reading together, doing craft projects, or just talking.

Become a Mentor! 

In our Community-Based Mentoring Program, a mentor will give a Little the invaluable gift of being a caring and consistent adult friend to them.  By simply changing the perspective of their world, you can literally start changing their life.  This can happen while giving just a few hours of your time each month.  It's really pretty simple - by doing everyday activities with a child, you can make a BIG difference in the life of a local child. 

In the Community-Based Mentoring Program, matches between the Big and Little meet in the community each week at a time convenient for both the volunteer and the child.  No cost/low cost activities are encouraged - after all, it is about spending time together, not spending money.  Some activity ideas are playing catch at a park, riding bikes, doing arts and crafts or leaning a new skill together.

Drivers needed to deliver food baskets to outlying areas of Portage County.  Most recipients are elderly residents.  Mobile Pantry puts together baskets of food items to deliver.  Call Ashley Heil at 715 600 1202 for more information or to volunteer.

Our Vet-to-Vet volunteer program is dedicated to providing quality care to our patients and families that are living in this community. Volunteers help improve the quality of our patients lives through social interaction and companionship. Heartland Hospice is in need of volunteers with military background to join our team of caring professionals! Volunteers are matched up with a veteran that is currently receiving hospice services that would like friendly visits and additional companionship from another veteran. Fellow veterans may be able to relate to the life experiences of the hospice patient and share stories to help enrich the patient’s life during those final months. In addition to social visits, veteran volunteers can assist with pinning ceremonies and Veteran’s Day events. Are you looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity? Vigil volunteers are special volunteers that help provide a loving presence at the bedside of our hospice patients as they are quickly approaching end-of-life. Vigil volunteers are requested when no family or loved ones are available or when family needs a break from the bedside. Are you looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity? Volunteers and their therapy certified dogs are needed to visit patients on Heartland Hospice Services. Volunteers and their therapy dogs provide companionship and social interaction for patients that enjoy animals and would like visitors. Cleanup of invasive garlic mustard and honeysuckle of trails around McDill pond along with garbage pick up. Building and placement of duck and bird nesting boxes on McDill Pond during the winter months. Volunteers need to supply own tools/wood, we can supply garbage bags for cleanup events.   

We are looking for volunteers to help run parkrun starting May 25th. Parkrun is a weekly, free, timed, 5k, open to anyone. 

Volunteer positions available are 

- Event Day Course Check - checks to make sure course is safe to use

- Timekeeper - records finish times of all participants

- Finish Tokens - hands out position tokens to all participants

- Barcode Scanner - scans the personal barcode followed by the position token

- Tail Walker - walks at the back of the field of participants

- Marshall - directs participants where to go

This volunteer position is responsible for the record-keeping of foot care clinic participants.  The volunteer will assist with scheduling appointments, collecting payments, and checking in participants on the day of their appointments.  The Clinic runs on the 1st, 3d, 4th, and 5th Wednesdays and Thursdays of each month.  Volunteers won't be required to volunteer each day, only when available.  

Do you like to work with people one-on-one to achieve their goals? Work with an adult in our community to improve their English language skills so they can understand more at work, read to their child, become a US citizen, participate in the community, and more! Tutors can tutor in-person at a public lo cation or online via Zoom. Pick a schedule that works for you, and we'll find you the right learner. Most matches meet once or twice a week for 1 to 2 hours.

Volunteers must be willing to learn tools that make tutoring productive and fun. The PCLC provides training, materials, and ongoing support. We'll show you have to use a curriculum that fits your learner's language level. Work together to help your learner achieve their goals. In addition to teaching, many tutors express that they learn a lot from their learners.

The DAV strives to treat every veteran with the dignity and respect they deserve for their service.  DAV drivers are all volunteers and are not compensated.  They donate their time to help veterans who do not have the means for getting to their appointments.  DAV wants to ensure every VA registered veteran is provided timely and professional transportation to VA medical facilities to get the care they need.  

Required Qualifications/Skills: Must maintain a valid Wisconsin driver's license, safe driving record and over all good health.  Caring, patient, friendly, safety-minded individual with good communication skills, ability to listen non-judgmentally, ability to maintain confidentiality.

Help community members, professionals, businesses, and various other groups to enhance awareness of dementia. The virtual tour gives participants a first-hand feel of what it’s really like to live with dementia. This helps to create a better understanding and awareness of those who may have previously been unexposed to this disease as well as enhancing awareness for caregivers.

To qualify as a volunteer for RSVP you must be 55 years of age or older.  You can also volunteer for this position without being a member of RSVP.

What does a Companion do?

How does one learn how to be a Companion?

We have our new volunteers begin by attending a shift or two and simply observing. Then, we connect new volunteers with an established companion whom they will shadow for several shifts until the new volunteer feels ready to take the lead with neighbors.  We work collaboratively, so no companion ever flies completely solo.

Receive donations from customers, sort them into appropriate containers and get them to proper area.

Pick up food from local businesses and bring it to the pantry on various days of the week. You must have your own vehicle and insurance. We will pay for gas! Right now we pick up on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

RentReady is a program operated by the Hunger and Poverty Prevention Partnership of Portage County.  This program works with individuals and families who  have had difficulties in obtaining rental housing due to prior evictions, bankruptcies, or legal issues. We are looking for mentors to walk alongside our RentReady graduates for one year.  The key idea to ensure success, particularly from the beginning, is to help participants get off on the right foot and stay the course through the critical first year. We want to give each graduate the greatest chance of success to enjoy the benefits that come with a year of solid rent experience on their housing resumé.

Mentor training is provided.

We are looking for  new committee members to help plan and promote Empty Bowls, an event that fights hunger and poverty in our community.
This is a busy group. We meet every month, year round at Noon for one hour. Additional meetings are held in October, the month of the Empty Bowls event. Board members assist with planning and implementation of annual Empty Bowls event to raise funds for local hunger needs. Join us!

Hello!  We're looking for a volunteer to take blood pressure readings for participants at the Rosholt Senior Dining Site at the American Legion once per month, on either the 2nd or 4th Thursday of the month.  Readings typically take place from 11:30am until noon.  Equipment may be provided, or you may use your own.  If you are qualified and interested please get in touch, our senior participants really appreciate this service!

Volunteers deliver meals for homebound seniors throughout Portage County as part of the ADRC's Rural Home Delivered Meal Program.  If you want to really make a difference in someone's life this is for you! A mileage stipend is available.  Number of Volunteers Needed:   15-20

Commitment is approximately 1 ½ - 2 hours between 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Routes are primarily in the villages and rural areas of Portage County, but in most cases start and end at the Lincoln Center in Stevens Point.

Scheduling can be flexible and we'd be happy to talk to you about what works for your schedule.  

You must be 55 years of age or older to volunteer as a part of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program but our nutrition program is happy to accept volunteers of any age so long as they can drive and pass a background check.

Troop Helpers These volunteers play a big role in making the troop run smoothly. They're an extra set of eyes, ears, and hands that allow the troop to safely explore the world around them. Whether they are driving to an adventure, chaperoning a sleepover, or helping glue, cut, and color Troop Helpers can do it all!

Troop Cookie Manager Coordinate the annual Girl Scout Cookie Program at the troop level. Set up cookie booths, manage inventory and money, and witness as girls turn into #CookieBosses- setting goals, making sales, and earning rewards!

 Troop Fall Product Manager Coordinate the annual Fall Product Program at the troop level. Manage the program and money, and then watch the girls light up when they reach their goals, learn something new, and squish the stuffed animal they didn't buy, but earned!

Troop Treasurer: Got a knack for numbers? A passion for all things accounting? This role works with girls and the troop leader to keep troop finances in order. Troop treasurers work alongside the troop leader to prepare the annual troop finance report.

Trainer/Coach
Want to share your knowledge with other volunteers? Help them be the best girl mentor they can possible be. Use your personal expertise to mentor and train volunteers in your area!

Service Area Manager
Be the leader for girls and volunteers in your service area! As Service Area Manager, you will lead a team of passionate volunteers as they plan events, engage new volunteers, and create life-changing opportunities for girls in your service area.

Coordinate the annual cookie sale at the service area level.  Manage the sale, the inventory and the money for your service area, and then watch the girls light up when they earn the rewards for being the best cookie sellers ever!

Got a knack for numbers? As service area treasurer you'll be in charge of the service area bank account-- and you will help make all those amazing Girl Scout experiences possible for girls in your service area. 

Outdoor Champion
Outdoor Champions are passionate about getting girls outside! They have interest and ability in one or more outdoor skills, especially fire building, outdoor cooking, camping, and leading outdoor activities. They enjoy teaching, supporting, and mentoring adults who want to lead girls of all ages in nature activities, outdoor skill progression, and earning outdoor badges.

We are looking for adults who could lead a small troop of girls in the Rosholt, Almond-Bancroft, Hancock, Junction City, or Plainfield area. All of these areas are in need of a troop, with girl's wanting to join but no adult leaders. You do not have to have children, be a caregiver, or even a female! Everybody is welcome!

Your talents and experience have the power to change girls’ lives. As a Girl Scout volunteer, you’ll teach them the skills and give them the confidence they need to bring their unique ideas to life and make changes that they never thought possible. As girls learn, grow, and lead, you’re there through it all—shaping the future right along with us. And while you teach them important life lessons and set them up for happy, successful lives, you’ll grow too—honing your own leadership and organizational skills. It's a win-win.

Materials will be provided to get you started. There will be training and a council staff member at your first few meetings to help you. You choose the day of the week, how often(bi-weekly or once a month), and what time. It provides a steady stream of volunteer hours! Membership will be reimbursed after training.

Girls in Middle School are in need of community members to serve as Girl Scout troop leaders for their troop.  These girls are interested in being in Girl Scouts and strong role models to help guide their troop on activities and trips.

Our organization provides training, resources and coaching to help you become a strong volunteer.  No previous Girl Scout experience necessary, we can help you with all your questions!

As the volunteer, you can choose the meeting schedule that works best with your schedule!

Community Starter Troop Leaders will lead a troop of girls aged 5-8 on hands-on program activities, including community service, outdoor education, science, art, and more. 

Run just 2 meetings per month at each community site, such as a library or school. Patience and energy is a must!

Program plans and resources will be provided, but you are responsible for preparing and customizing each meeting. There are opportunities for creativity. You will have help from another volunteer.

Central Wisconsin SCORE provides free, highly professional advisory services to small businesses and those looking to start a business in western Waupaca, Portage, Wood, northern Waushara and northern Adams counties. We are seeking volunteers to work with us to accomplish this mission. Opportunities include working directly with small business people to plan and solve problems, answering questions from small business owners by email, organizing and/or presenting workshops for prospective entrepreneurs, setting up and maintaining our website and social media sites, marketing our services and assisting with chapter administration. Blood Drive Registration is one way that you can help at the Community Blood Center. The only real “job requirement” is a personal desire to help others. Volunteer orientation and training are provided.  As a Registration Attendant, you will be checking in our donors as they arrive for their appointment, and getting them started with their paperwork.

Volunteer opportunities are available on a variety of days, times, and locations, and there is no minimum or maximum number of hours for volunteering. Volunteer opportunities are regularly available in Appleton, Oshkosh, Little Chute, and in other cities and small towns throughout Northeastern Wisconsin, including Stevens Point!

Meals on Wheels of Stevens Point is seeking to expand it's pool of substitute drivers for November through April 2019.  By becoming a substitute driver, you will provide a daily safety check and brief socialization for recipients when delivering their hot meals.  ​Drive as little or as much as you would like.

Meals are picked up from the ​hospital between 10:55​ am​ and 11:30 am​ Monday thru Friday.​  ​R​oute​s​ takes approximately an hour​ to complete.​ Turn by turn directions are provided. A valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle​ are required​. Training ​is provided.

Volunteer drivers are at the heart of this community service. Volunteers deliver hot meals to over 120 homebound members of our community on a daily basis through the Meals on Wheels Program. Drivers pick up the meals at the hospital and, using their own vehicles, deliver the meals directly to the homes or apartments of the recipients. At each stop, volunteers make a short visit and leave the meal. At the end of the delivery route, all empty containers are returned back to the hospital. Total time involved is about one hour. 

Volunteers are scheduled to help according to their availability. Volunteers may help once a week, twice a month, or on an on-call basis.  Currently we are seeking volunteers to fill regular route openings on Thursdays and Fridays.

SAVS (Sexual Assault Victims Services) is a service program that uses staff and trained volunteers to provide accompaniment, information and support to anyone victimized by sexual violence and their families. Volunteers serve as advocates who respond during non-office hours and on weekends. Volunteers are available to be present with victims during medical examinations, police reporting and during judicial proceedings - all depending on the needs and choices of the victim. The calls are occasional yet a trained volunteer who is able to connect with the victim at a critical time is important in our community. The Family Crisis Center receives the calls and makes the connection with the volunteer advocate who returns the call and offers support. Reminding a victim that they are not alone is possible because ...no SAVS provider is ever alone.

Volunteers must be 18 years old, have access to an insured vehicle, commit to one year of service, successfully complete 20 hours of training and attend monthly in-service/support meetings. The ability to maintain confidentiality is a must. Successful candidates are good listeners and able to be non-judgemental and empathetic in supporting individuals victimized by sexual assault.

We are interested in adding new people to our Board. We meet four times a year.

A disparity in access to food, and that is culturally appropriate, was found in the Hmong community among elders and disabled residents. By partnering with CAP Services Hmong Uplift program and local Hmong restaurants and farmers, we are able to hold a program that closes the gap lack of food access.
