The purpose of the Properties Committee is to oversee conservation easement and fee simple project evaluation. Recommend to the board for approval conservation projects that merit further protection. Collaborate in the development of easement and baseline documents. The responsibilities of the Properties Committee include the
following:
1. Interact with executive director to evaluate prospective easements and fee properties.
2. Investigate prospective properties with site and landowner visits.
3. Evaluate properties against NCCT’s conservation criteria.
4. Consider costs associated with easements and fee property management, make funding
recommendations, and assist in finding ways to defray expenses.
5. Present easement and fee property findings and recommendations to the board of directors.
6. Interact with the stewardship committee in the development of fee simple land management plans.
7. Review management plans annually and participate in maintenance and restoration when appropriate.
8. Collaborate in the development of easements and baseline documents.
9. Collaborate and participate in easement monitoring.
10. Review reports of conservation easement violations and participate in the development of recommendations for response and remediation.
11. Review NCCT easement and fee property policies and guidelines, at least every five years, and recommend appropriate modifications to the board of directors.

12. Assist in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with conservation easement
landowners.
13. Be alert to prospective easement and fee properties.

A public relations committee member will interact with the executive director and take initiative to outreach, plan events, and participate in the development of newsletters, press releases, and letters to the editor on behalf of NCCT. They will also be responsible for continuing membership relationships and developing new ones.

Specific tasks may include:

Consider costs associated with events and outreach efforts. Collaborate in planning events and development of newsletters. Review NCCT letters, newsletters, and press releases. Assist in establishing and maintaining relationships with landowners and other volunteers of NCCT. Be knowledgeable of our current members and help develop new members.
