Mental Health Services Head Start believes that parents are their children's first and most important teachers and have the longest lasting influence on their lives; therefore, parental involvement is the foundation of Head Start. When parents experience success, they learn to be confident partners with teachers and strong advocates for their families. When children experience success in a responsive, nurturing environment, they gain essential life-long skills and knowledge. Head Start respectfully identifies and encourages the individual strengths of children and their families and through education, community partnerships and family services assists families and children in moving toward and achieving their goals.
