Transportation Team

Description: Our “Transportation” Team is responsible for picking up harvested produce and transporting it to donation sites around the community, where they then weigh & record the pounds of produce donated.

Hours: Year-round but very flexible

Qualifications/Skills Required: Individuals with an interest in nutritious recipes as well as familiarity with computers and social media are best suited for this Giving Gardens Team.

Fundraising Team

Hours: Very flexible

Qualifications/Skills Required: Effective oral and written communication, education or experience that lends to grant writing/donation solicitation and professionalism are all important for members of the “Fundraising” Team.

Build Team

Description: Our “Build” team helps build new beds, put up fencing, and with other tool-related garden tasks that arise.

Hours: Varied. Team members may only be called upon once or twice a year, depending on the needs that arise.

Qualifications/Skills Required: Ability to wield tools and/or experience with building materials. It is a plus if you have tools or know where you could borrow tools.

What We Do

Mission: The Giving Gardens program aims to promote and support efforts to maintain gardens in Portage County. The produce harvested from these gardens is donated to local food distribution centers in order to increase food
security and provide healthy meal options for economically disadvantaged citizens.
