Description

Science isn’t just important for understanding the world around us, developing problem-solving skills and solving the world’s most persistent problems, science is also FUN!!!

In partnership with the Wisconsin Science Festival, and in conjunction with “Mad Science” month, the Central Wisconsin Children's Museum is inviting teams to participate in a “Mad Machine” challenge. Using a basic understanding in physics and an eye toward creative and artistic design, teams will test their engineering abilities by creating one of two “Mad Machines.”

Nothing Simple About It
Children in grades 4K – 6 (or ages 4 – 13) will be asked to construct either a simple, or more complex version of a Rube Goldberg machine. This year’s challenge is to create a machine which will break open a fortune cookie!

Go Float a Boat!
Children over the age of 13 and adults will be asked to design and build a full-sized, fully-functional boat out of recycled materials.

Show-Off
Participating teams will converge at Makerpalooza to demonstrate their inventions.
