LEARN FOR LIFE
What: Learn for Life, a United Way of Portage County internal program, provides 2nd and 3rd grade learners who are below grade level reading proficiency with volunteer tutors. Tutors work with teachers in support of increasing reading achievement in the early grades. Students are tutored each week during their Reading class, rather than pulling them out of other subjects.
When: Looking for Learn for Life Substitute tutors for the 2026 Spring semester, starting now and ending in mid-May.
Where: Learn for Life is in all public Portage County schools and some private schools.
Commitment: 30 minute or 60 minute slots depending on teacher needs. *Check with your employer to see if VTO is available for this opportunity.
Qualifications: All new tutors will need to apply, agree to a background check*, interview and attend an orientation.
