Welcome clients and ensure they are logged in and assisted in an appropriate order and have the correct forms and documents. Assist clients in filling out portions of the Intake sheets and other required forms. Keep information (such as waiting time) flowing to clients in the waiting area. Comply with Confidentiality and Security of Taxpayer data document. Participate in annual training on program policies and procedures and agree to, by signing, the IRS Volunteer Standards of Conduct form and pass a written 10-question ethics test. Must be organized, personable and enjoy working with people. Ability to deal with clients who want immediate answers to tax questions, but may be required to wait for answers from a tax counselor. A 3-hour training is required to become familiar with program policies, administrative matters and AARP intake and Quality Review Form, applicable site procedures and orientation to the AARP Tax-Aide program. A Criminal background check is required.
AARP Tax-Aide Program, in a joint effort with the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of the Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC) and Portage County Public Library, offers free tax preparation services for senior citizens and adults with disabilities. This program provides as many as 1000 low income individuals and families with free tax preparation and filing.
